A composite resin filling (white filling) is mercury free, made of a tooth colored plastic mixture filled with glass particles, used for restoring decay and used for cosmetic improvements.
Modern white fillings are a combination of a resin and nano-particles of glass. This combination gives white fillings their dental name; composite resins.
White Fillings can be used to replace decay, just like silver fillings or replace old silver fillings for cosmetic reasons.
The enhanced cosmetics are the main benefit of white fillings, they can look just like natural teeth. Many people are also concerned about the potential risks of mercury containing silver fillings.
On average White Fillings should last for 7-10 years. At the DENTOP we advise that white fillings are best when the cavity/ filling to be replaced is small to medium in size. When a larger filling is required a porcelain inlay or porcelain onlay is a better option.
Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment – which is also known as endodontics – is indispensable when the dental pulp inside the tooth becomes infected due to dental caries or tooth damage.
This infection may spread through the whole root which can lead to an abscess, causing a lot of inconvenience. If the canal treatment does not help with eliminating the infection it is highly possible that the given tooth must be extracted.
What kind of symptoms can justify the necessity of a root canal treatment?
Root treatment is intended to cure the diseased dental pulp. The symptoms of an inflamed or infected pulp is the following:
- sensitivity to hot and cold food and beverages
- sensitivity when biting or chewing
- swollen gum around the infected tooth
- shedding pus around the infected tooth
- facial swelling
What does the dental crown mean?
A tooth crown or a dental crown is a dental restoration which completely encircles the visible part of a tooth.
Therefore, this solution does not primarily replace a missing tooth but rather recovers injuries. However, it plays an important role in the replacement of lost teeth as the integral part of the dental bridge.
The crown is a type of dental restoration which is located on an implant or on the natural tooth, above the gingival area.
The preparation of a crown is needed when the tooth is decayed or broken to an extent that it is impossible to fill it or place an inlay/onlay on it.
Are you suffering from tooth loss? You want to have your lost teeth replaced? Dental bridge is the solution for that.
It’s important to remedy the situation as soon as possible in order to avoid further serious health problems:
- Chewing ability is reduced which consequently deteriorates digestion.
- The adjacent teeth start to move which may lead to their premature loosening.
- The sight of the missing teeth gives the impression of a neglected dentition.
- Voice training and speech clarity deteriorates, particularly in the absence of front teeth.
- Bone resorption is increased in the area of the missing teeth which makes future prosthetic preparation more difficult.
Dental bridge is a prosthesis that is used to replace missing teeth. Unlike the traditional removable denture, dental bridge is a permanent solution that is fixed onto the patient’s existing, natural teeth. The bridge is an alternative solution for those who don’t want any surgical intervention because of implants and who still have his/her own teeth which can be used as abutments/pillars.
Veneers – Direct veneer
One of the cost-effective methods for reconstructing the surface of the front teeth is working with direct veneers (a.k.a. direct composite veneers). During this intervention, we build up a premium aesthetic white filling to the tooth surface. The additional benefit of using direct veneers is the fact that the treatment can be completed during a single occasion. The shape, appearance and color of the veneer can be easily modified and polished next to the dentist’s chair – thus, the patient can leave the clinic in a short time, with a perfect smile.
The other type of veneers is not made by our dentist at the clinic but it is prepared at one of our partner hi-tech dental laboratories. The other type of veneers is not made by our dentist at the clinic but it is prepared at one of our partner hi-tech dental laboratories. If the front teeth is discolored, chipped or misaligned, porcelain veneers provide a realistic look with a minor intervention and alignment.
Dental veneer can be a perfect solution for you:
- if your teeth did not grow properly owing to malformation
- if the gap is too large between your teeth
- if your teeth were damaged in an accident
- if your teeth have false color which cannot be corrected by bleaching
- if your teeth are inadequate in size.
Contrary to dental fillings, the inlay is made in the dental laboratory.
The difference between an inlay and a filling is the fact that while one of them will solve your problem directly, the other does the same indirectly. The porcelain inlay is a metal-free dental restoration made by a dental technician. It fits perfectly into the tooth’s drilled hole (cavity). Then, a pinpoint inlay goes in this hole which perfectly matches with the color of the natural teeth. All of these provide a uniquely beautiful and natural effect.
There’s no need for unnecessary polishing or for having a crown which completely covers your tooth.
The dental restoration is so perfectly fit that it can hardly be noticed. Besides aesthetic considerations, porcelain inlay should be used when the size of the dental caries is large.
Even though the filling material is durable, the tooth may weaken if a lot of infected bone have to be removed. In such cases, a stronger and more lasting solution is needed which not only fills the hole but also supports it from the inside.
- It’s more beautiful than the aesthetic filling since the surface of the tooth can be perfectly reconstructed with it.
- It’s more accurate and precise than the aesthetic filling (this reduces the risk of secondary dental caries)
- It’s more durable than the aesthetic filling.
- Its color is optional (it won’t differ from the color of your own teeth).
- It flawlessly recovers the occlusal surface.
- It ensures a perfect contact point
- It won’t cause any allergy.
